Mr Rowlinson, who milks 200 cows at Goosetree Farm in Macclesfield, invested in a new GEA 25/50 Herringbone parlour, with the new GEA IQ Clusters and In Parlour Feeding.
“We installed our new parlour in December 2012. Our last parlour was a Westfalia which we had for 30 years, and so when it was time to invest in a new one we didn’t even look at anyone else.
“One of the benefits of the new parlour is that we can milk quicker – we can load one side of 25 cows in under a minute. Having a faster milking time gives me more time to manage my cows.
“Another benefit is using targeted feed to yield with GEA Farm Technologies DairyPlan cow management software so we can get more milk and use a lot less feed.
“The cows took to the new parlour quicker than anyone. The cows skip into the parlour now, they like it that much!
